A hero to me is not someone who can fly or has super powers but somebody that does stuff for others and not just for themselves. I picked Abraham Lincoln because he was a President of the United States, and he was elected by the people so obviously he was respected by most everybody. He was a great leader of the Unites States and a great military leader also. He served two terms as president, which is eight years. Four to a term. Presidents can only serve two terms.

Abraham Lincoln was born on February 12th 1809, in Hardin County, Kentucky. He was raised in a poor family and self educated himself. He then became a country lawyer then Lincoln ran unsuccessfully for the Illinois legislature in 1832. Two years later he was elected to the lower house for the first of four successive terms. "His party's ambitious program of national economic development was the perfect solution to the problems Lincoln had seen in his rural past." Abraham Lincoln became the 16th president of the United States March 4, 1861, where, obviously he gave his first inaugural address.

Abraham Lincoln served as the 16th President of the United States from March 1861 until he died (assassinated) in April 1865. He led the country through its greatest military and moral crisis by preserving the Union while ending slavery and promoting economic modernization. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abraham_Lincoln) Lincoln served two terms which is eight years. He was a great military leader and even though he wasn't completely against slavery, he still stopped it from spreading to the west, in which, slavery ended totally soon after that.

The reason I picked Abraham Lincoln was because he was a great guy, I mean, they didn't call him honest Abe for no reason. He was a great President, and it would be so cool if he was President when I was alive. A lot of people looked up to him and loved him because people elected him for two terms, and if they wouldn't have liked him, they wouldn't have elected him. I know that I would have liked him as a person and as a President if he were alive today because of all the stories I've heard, and all of the things I've learned at school.

In this story, you learned what I think of a hero, and what i would expect in a hero. Also you've learned that Abraham Lincoln is one of my heroes. He was a respectable man and it would be awesome if he was alive today! I would hope that after reading this you would think that Abraham Lincoln could be at least considered as a hero in your life because he is sure is a hero in mine.
