My hero is Abraham Lincoln. He was born in Kentucky on February 12, 1809 and he died on April 15, 1865. He was shot by John Wilkes Booth. Lincoln was the 16th president. He started his career as a lawyer, then a senator for Illinois, finally he became president of the U.S.

The most important thing that Lincoln did was fight against slavery! A lot of people disagreed with him and that is what started the Civil War. John Wilkes Booth shot Lincoln because he disagreed with him about slavery. Lincoln is also famous for the Gettysburg Address.

I admire Lincoln the most for his hard work in what is now history. He believed in something and worked hard to change the system. Lincoln is my hero because no matter how bad you start you can even become the president, with a little hard work, just like he did. When I chose Lincoln I did not know anything about him now I know a lot about him. I guesses I chose him because he was the first person I thought about.
