Do you know who the 16th president of the United States was? If you guessed Lincoln you were correct. Lincoln was the change he wanted to see in the world because he was president.

Slavery was a horrid time period. Lincoln’s thought’s on slavery were that it was immoral. All the slaves were whipped and overworked. He wanted to change that so when he became president he abolished slavery, but by abolishing slavery it caused a civil war to break out between the North and the South. The North wanted to abolish slavery but the South wanted to keep slavery. By getting rid of slavery Lincoln broke the union but then helped the union even more.

Lincoln was commander in Chief in the Civil War. He was commander for the Northern Army. When he was put in charge he studied military books and tactics. He was known to take vigorous measures. He was at odds with the Constitution because they didn’t agree with the way he made vigorous measures. He was also at odds with his military commanders because of his ideas.

The union owes its thanks to Lincoln. By abolishing slavery, it caused the union to break apart between the North and the South. Seven Southern states wanted slavery so they broke apart from the rest of the union. In the end the North won the civil war. Lincoln then brought the South back together with the North. Before Lincoln saved the union he was leader in the war against the South.

Because Lincoln was president, he was the change he wanted to see in the world. A horrible time period in the U.S. was when there was slavery. Thanks to Lincoln, the union never fully fell apart but when it started to he put it back together. During the civil war, the North army’s Commander in Chief was Lincoln. Since Lincoln abolished slavery, the United States is always about equal rights movements.
