Abraham Lincoln

by Brady from Roseville

"Four score and seven years ago our fathers brought forth on this continent, a new nation, conceived in Liberty, and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal."

“What is a hero?” You may ask. Is it somebody famous and wealthy that didn’t work hard to achieve that goal? No, it’s somebody that has made a difference in the world that makes it what we live in today. They would be a person that worked hard and went through difficult times to make the world a better place. These reasons are why I chose Abraham Lincoln as my hero.

If you live in America, you would know Abraham Lincoln as the sixteenth president, whose term went from 1861-1865 before he was assassinated by John Wilkes Booth at Ford’s Theater in Washington. Although, President Lincoln did a lot more than lead the United States. He worked hard to stop the spread of slavery, as he felt that it was very wrong. The Emancipation Proclamation was a life changing announcement for many slaves on January 1st, 1863, as it allowed all of them within the Confederacy to be free. This was only the beginning of the movement that President Lincoln was starting.

Abraham Lincoln was born in Hardin County, Kentucky, in February 12th, 1809. He moved to Indiana when he was eight and worked on the farm, eager to learn new skills. Continuing to help the African American’s civil rights, President Lincoln gave the Gettysburg Address on November 19th, 1863. The Gettysburg Address is an extremely well known speech that was given to remember the soldiers that had died at the Battle at Gettysburg. Abraham Lincoln made a difference because he worked hard to stop the spread of slavery in America.

President Lincoln inspires me to make a difference for the better in the world we live in today. Abraham Lincoln is what I believe a hero is because he was a great man who was completely unselfish. His kind soul helped African Americans across the world. President Lincoln is wonderfully inspiring because he is extremely well known for his well doing for the world.

As you can really see, Abraham Lincoln is a great hero as he has done outstanding achievements for the United States of America. He has gone through difficult times for the greater good of everyone and the future Americans, so it could be a much better place. That is why he is very well known today. Making him a marvelous person to do this report on.
