He is a hero because he helped free slaves and he fought in the Black Hawk War. This makes him a war hero and a slave free. He is also the sixteenth president. He was also was a civil rights fighter.

When he was a young boy he lived on a small farm in Kentucky. As he grew up on the farm he then later moved away to get a better education. He found out that as got to college he needed more money to get the education he wanted so he joined the army. After that he later became the president and held that for two long terms. Unfortunately he was shot in his last term.

When he was president he fought for the slaves to have freedom in the civil war.

Later after the civil war and when all of the slaves were free, he was then re-elected in 1864 and soon after that was killed by a gun shot to the back of his head. Then his vice president took office. Abraham also made Thanksgiving a national holiday and that is one thing that people look forward to.

He was one of our best men that made the US how it is today and that's why we still think about Abe. He was a nice guy all around and i don't know why anyone would want to kill him. Abraham made a big impact on the society we have today. He was born in Kentucky on February 12, 1809 and died on April 15, 1856 at the age of 56 in Washington.
