Aukai Remedios

by Aulani from Honolulu

My hero is my older brother Aukai. His favorite color is green. Aukai and I don't always get along well. He likes to play basketball. Aukai goes to the same school as I do.

Aukai is strong. Once he saved my little sister, Chloe, by grabbing hold of her ponytail so she wouldn't sink below the water. It was a good thing that Chloe didn't drown because she can't swim. Another reason is because Aukai can carry two mattresses on his head from my house to our Tutu's house. Tutu lives across the street from us. Aukai is also strong because he can carry my 100 pound cousin, Ho'o.

Aukai is brave. He is brave because he saved his little sister from drowning. Aukai is also brave because a big dog once bit him while we were at our grandmother's house. He didn't cry when the dog bit him, and he only said that it hurt a lot.

Aukai is persistent. When he plays basketball, he tries to shoot during each game but he never makes a basket. My mom said that she would give Aukai $20 for each basket he makes. Then in one game Aukai shot two baskets and got $40! Another reason he is persistent is because when we play kickball with our cousins, Aukai always gets out when he kicks the ball. But Aukai never gave up, and then he finally made a homerun by kicking the ball on the street.

Aukai is my hero. He is my big brother and I want to get along with him better. Even though he is sometimes mean to me, I still know that he cares and loves me. When I am in danger, I want Aukai to save me. My brother is strong, brave, and persistent.
