Andre Romelle Young

by Andres from Barrie

I chose DR. DRE because of the music he makes and how he helped to save the life of an unknown citizen. Andre Romelle Young is Dr. Dre's real name; DR. DRE is his stage name. He was born February 18, 1965 in Compton, California, United States. His education occurred at Centennial High School and Fremont High School. He did not get his grade 12 education. He had a son named Andre Jr. and he was born in 1988. He also has a son named Curtis who was born in 1981. He also has a son Marcel who was born 1991. He also has a daughter named Truly who was born in 2001. He also has a son named Truth who was born in 1997.

He started his music career as a DJ as “DR. J”. Dr. Dre joined a musical group called “World Class Wrecking Cru” under the Kru-cut Record Company in 1984. Dr. Dre works with many artists like Ice cube, Eazy-E, Ice T, and Snoop Dog, D.O.C., Eminem and 50 Cent.

Do you know what sad thing happened in his life? The death of his son Andre Young Jr. at the age of 20. On August 23, 2008 Andre didn’t come home that night. Dr. Dre found him in the morning at 10:00 a.m. lying dead on the street. Something else that happened that was bad was that someone paid money to someone else to kill Dr. Dre.

The death of his son Andre Young Jr. was a difficult thing to get over. Dr. Dre overcame this obstacle by praying to God every day and night to help him get through it. Eventually it gets easier, even though he still misses him so much.

Some people consider him a hero because he saved a person’s life. He doesn’t think that he is a hero. He was just doing the right thing.

Some of his achievements in music are well known. He won a Grammy Award for Best Rap Solo Performance in 1994 for the song “Let Me Ride”. In 1993 he was one of the best selling artists. Some of his other accomplishments are: American record producer, rapper, record executive and actor.

That why I chose Dr. Dre.
