Angela Zhang (www.huffingtonpost.com (google images)) |
Angela Zhang is a normal teenage girl who was born into a Chinese immigrant family. She loves shoes and learning how to drive. She is from Cupertino, California. She goes to the Monta Vista High School in Cupertino.
She made a research paper in her own time for her chemistry teacher and her teacher couldn't even read it because it was so advanced. She was stunned to see that a high school student could pull off doctrine level papers.
She was reading doctrine level papers on bio engineering when she was a freshmen. She said she couldn't understand it at first, but it was kind of like a puzzle trying to decode things. She got it better after reading it time after time.
She talked Stanford into letting her into the Stanford laboratory when she was a Sophomore. By Junior year she was conducting her own research!
She created a bubble called a polymer and put the cancer medicine inside the polymer. Then, she would attach it to a nano particle. The nano particle would attach itself to a cancer cell and the doctors would be able to see the exact location of the tumor on a MRI. Then she would beam a laser onto the cancer cell, melting the polymer to release the medicine onto the cancer cell.
People will continue to make a difference in people's lives. Surely she is something else. But, what makes Angela Zhang a hero?
She has helped millions of cancer patients with her research. She doesn't even know these people, yet she still thrives to make a difference in their lives. To me, Angela is more than just a good person. Angela Zhang is a hero.
