My hero is Alexei Kovalev, the Russian hockey player. I have learned a lot from him.
Alexei Kovalev was born in Togliatti, Russia on February 24 1973. When he was 8 years old he had a heart disorder. He had to stop playing hockey for two years, while he was treated.

Kovalev played for his hometown team in the International Hockey League in 1994. In 1991, Kovalev was drafted by the New York Rangers, a National Hockey League team. Kovalev was drafted in the first round. He scored third most points in the playoffs. Kovalev played with the Montreal Canadiens, the Pittsburgh Penguins and now he plays with the Ottawa Senators.

What I like about Kovalev is his exceptional stick handling. It is really beautiful to watch! He teaches hockey clinics and shows tricks from his experience. Kovalev made a dvd and gave the money to sick kids. I find it generous. In 2006, Alexei Kovalev signed with Warrior hockey sticks and now there are a lot of NHL players who play with that trademark including Mark Recchi and Zdeno Chara. Kovalev has his aircraft pilot's license. When I become an adult I would like to be a pilot, too. I could go anywhere around the world.

I think that Alexei Kovalev is a hero because he is courageous, he doesn't give up and kids could learn from him.
