A-Rod is my hero. He was born on July 27th. His birth name was Alexander Emmanuel Rodriguez. At the age of 4, A-Rod's family moved to their native land, the Dominican Republic. That was where Alex first learned how to play baseball. Four years later they moved back to the USA to Miami Florida. Alex started playing Khoury League baseball, sponsored by the Boys Club in Coconut Grove, a league with which he still keeps in touch. A-Rod's childhood was a bittersweet life. It was bittersweet because his father had left the family when he was 8 or 9 years old. It was sweet, because his mother stayed with him and he was able to play professional baseball at the age of 18. Alex used to live in Washington Heights in an apartment behind his parents' shoe shop.

Alex has a mother's name Lourdes Navvaro. His father's name Victor Rodriguez. His brothers' names were Joe and Victor Jr. His sisters name is Suzy. Alex has two half-brothers. Joe Dunand Sr. is from Alex's mother's first marriage. The other half brother is Victor Rodriguez Jr. from his father's previous marriage. Alex has two dogs named Gipsy and Ripper. Alex's early career was with the Seattle Mariners at the age of 18. The last year he played for the Mariners was in 2000 at the age of 24. The second team he played for was the Texas Rangers at the age of 25. that last year he played with the Rangers was in 2003 at the age of 27. The third baseball team he joined were the New York Yankees at the age of 28 and still plays for the Yankees. When he was with the Mariners he hit 189 home runs. When he was with the Rangers he hit 156 home runs. Now with the Yankees he has hit 278 home runs. In all he has hit 623 home runs.

Alex Rodriguez is a very kind person. He loves kids and he makes a lot of donations to different charities. He loves kids so much that he made a foundation called The AROD Family Foundation. Alex made that foundation to help kids and their families. The foundation is made to help families with education and mental health. Alex proudly supported the GO Red For Women. Alex gave 500,000 to Madonna's Charity. He also gave a donation of 3.9 million dollars to the University Of Miami. He donated 200,000 to Children Aid Society.

He's my hero because he did not give up when people found out that he was taking drugs. He is my hero because he works hard to achieve what he likes to do. He is my hero because he is the best baseball player in the league. He is also the highest paid player in the MLB.
