Alenka Ugrin

by Jani from Slovenia

My mum = My hero (I took it)
My mum = My hero (I took it)

My real hero is not a peacemaker, not a politician but it’s my mum. She’s the only person that is always there for me, she always gives me some advice and she always helps me. She didn’t do any great things for human kind, but she did a lot of great things for me and this is enough to make her my hero.

My mum’s name is Alenka and she was born in Koper. She married my dad, Franko at the age of 21. I will always remember her taking care of me and helping me do things for school. When I was 11, I had chickenpox and although my mum never had chickenpox she took care of me and this was a really brave thing to do because if an older person gets chickenpox, they can get really sick.

Also once when I was 3 or 4, I don’t remember exactly, I fall down from the couch and I couldn't breathe. When my mum saw me she quickly ran and helped me to breathe again, she actually saved my life.

When I was in third grade I was driving my bicycle with my mum and I fell down off the bicycle and cut my leg. My mum took me and carried me and our bicycles to our home and then my dad took us to the hospital. I got 20 stitches.

Although I was very vivacious child my mum always took care of me and always helped me in trouble or in good things, so those are the things that really make her my hero and no one else can compare with her.
