I am going to tell you about my hero whose name is Muhammad Ali. He was an African American boxer that lived from 1942 until this day. In my story I will inform you on what he has done, where he has lived, when he lived, and why he is important to me.
Muhammad Ali has done many different things in the time that he lived. First of all he won many, many fights that he fought and was named World Heavyweight Champion. He stood up for himself and said he didn’t want to go to the Vietnam War because he was a boxer. The police said that didn’t matter and they threw him in jail for 3 years. They took his title away from him and then he finally got it back after he was out of jail.
At the age of 63 I have no clue where Ali lives now, but I hope he is having fun. He is having trouble battling Parkinson’s disease and his family says he only has a few more months to live.
When he was still boxing he lived in the old segregated south. It really stunk for him because all the racial stuff happening down there. Lots of people disliked him for what he said because they thought he was racist against his own kind.
Muhammad Ali is a very important person to me because anyone who had to battle through the segregated things that happened is a hero. This is because to me it would have been very hard and depressing going through it. Also boxing is a very cool sport and he was the King of Sting. That is why Cassius Clay / Muhammad Ali is my hero.
