Ignacio Allende is my hero. He was once a captain in the Spanish army of Mexico. He was first a lieutenant general. He now has a city named in his honor. The city is San Miguel de Allende in the state of Guanajuato, Mexico.

What Allende wanted was independence from Spain for Mexico. He was the son of a rich trader and he was also a hero of Mexico.

Allende was born in 1769 and was married in 1802. In 1811, he died at the hands of the Spanish.

Allende fought for Mexico's independence. He also fought for his life. He mostly fought for his country.

In July 1811, at Acatita de Bajan in Coahuila, Allende's troop of soldiers were ambushed by Ignacio Elizonda, a figure who had been a rebel leader but then went over to the Spaniards. Allende and his fellow rebel Father Hidalgo were taken prisoner and marched over the desert to Chihuahua. There, after a court martial, Allende was executed on August 1. Hidalgo was shot two days earlier. I chose him as my hero because he fought for his country.
