Susan B. Anthony

by Hiroko from Dublin

Heroes should have many good characteristics, but I think a hero needs to be someone who stands up for themselves. They say what is wrong and what isn’t and if something is wrong they will do something to change it. Hero’s will help others do things such as helping them learn. They will also tell others if something is wrong. The last characteristic that I think heroes should have, heroes will work until they have accomplished what they wanted to do.

On February 15, 1820 in Adams, Massachusetts, a baby girl who will be known as Susan B. Anthony was born. She was brought up in a Quaker family. In 1846 she taught at Canajoharie Academy for two years. Susan B. Anthony argued for equal education to all people at the Massachusetts teachers’ convention and the state teachers convention at Troy, New York. Susan B. Anthony had taught children for fifteen years before she joined the women's Rights Movement. When she was 32 (1852) she joined the Women's Right Movement with Elizabeth Cady Stanton. After she joined she traveled all over the world and campaigned for slavery and women’s rights. Susan B. Anthony was not just interested in politics but she was also interested in nature. She then studied about it and warned people about nature. Susan B. Anthony was not married and kept on doing her job until she died on March 13, 1906.

Susan B. Anthony has a lot of characteristics that heroes have. She stood up for herself when she was standing up for Women’s Rights. She knew that slavery and Women's Rights were the right thing so she argued against it. When Susan B. Anthony was a teacher she would help students everyday to learn new things. She worked and told others that nature is very dangerous. Last but not least she fought for slavery and women's rights until her death in 1906. I would like to grow up and be like her.
