Aron

by Milagros from Buenos Aires

The person whom I am going to write about is my great grandfather, Aron. He lived in Ararat, a town in Armenia. I chose him because, although I didn't get to know him, I know lots of things that he did for my family and that I am very proud of him. Aron always fought for what was most important to him: his family and his country. My hero was a courageous and a perseverant person.

Aron lived with his family; he had two children and a wife. It all started in the war between Turkey and Armenia, when he fought for his country. I think he was a courageous person because during the war all of his family was killed in a burned church except for his cousin and his two children, and he kept on fighting. He was perseverant because he kept on fighting and never gave up.

When the war was over he crossed the entire ocean to come here to Argentina. When he arrived here he started working as a tailor. It was very difficult to communicate with the rest of the people because he did not know the language. For me, he is very important because if he hadn't fought and had all that courage, my family would not be here.

After some time of living here, he married my grandmother, Aurora. They had four children: Antonio, Jorge, Libertad and my grandfather, Alberto. Aurora was also an Armenian woman. After some time, Aron started doing better and better with his job and he opened a shoe factory. When Aron got older, he couldn't work as much. The business started falling and falling. So Jorge and my grandfather started working in the factory and it started growing more and more, doing better and better.

To conclude, Aron was a great person with lots of commitment. He knew what he wanted for himself and his family. I am very proud of him because of all the things that he did for us. Now my Uncle Sergio and Jorge are working in the business. So I would like to thank Aron for everything he did. I will always be very grateful to him. That's why he is my hero. I wish I had known him, but I didn't know him and I am never going to know him. But I am comforted with his teachings.
