“My makeup wasn't smeared, I wasn't disheveled, I behaved politely, and I never finished off a bottle, so how could I be alcoholic?”

Betty Ford had a good but crazy childhood. Elizabeth Ann Blommer was her name at birth. She was born April 8, 1918. She was raised in Chicago, and her dad committed suicide when she was at a very young age. A little after her dad died her mom started to date and soon after got married. This was the start of the dark years of her childhood.

During her dark years to started to be addicted to pain killers all throughout her adulthood. When she got married to Gerald Ford and had kids she was still a drug addict and her husband and four kids forced her into a rehab center. She did not like the rehab center that she went to so that inspired her to make The Betty Ford Center which is one of the best clinics around.

During her adult life Betty did many different things after and during college. She studied dance with the famous dancer Martha Graham. Betty also modeled for 4 years with John Robert Powers. Another one of her achievements in life is when she published an autobiography called the Times Of My Life.
