Edwin Eugene "Buzz" Aldrin, Jr.'s greatest contribution to space exploration was that he was the second man to step foot on the Moon. He stepped foot on the Moon eighteen minutes after Neil Armstrong. Did you know that the Buzz Lightyear toy was named after Buzz Aldrin?
Aldrin was born in 1930. He lived in Glen Ridge, New Jersey. After he got his degree in astronautics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, MIT, he became an astronaut later that year. He also went to U.S. Military Academy in 1951. He also received a doctor of science degree. Did you know that Buzz was the pilot of the Gemini 12 space flight in 1966?
My life is better because of Edwin Eugen "Buzz" Aldrin, Jr. Aldrin extended my knowledge of the Moon through pictures and the knowledge he brought back to Earth with him.
