| President Harry S Truman presents the Medal of Honor (http://www.arlingtoncemetery.net/btanderson.htm) |
My personal Hero is any soldier or man who has died for the rights I have in my country. I respect and honor every man or women who has ever served the United States Of America. The person I chose for this essay was however never killed in battle. I chose Second Lieutenant Beauford T. Anderson.
Beauford was an army second lieutenant but before that who was he? He was born in Eagle River, Wisconsin, July 6, 1922. Beauford T. “Andy” Anderson enlisted on 1942 at Soldier’s Grove, Wisconsin. Then after the war he moved to Seaside, California, where he lived until death.
One of his courageous acts was, during the fight of Leyte, Anderson crossed 50 yards of enemy fire. He then rescued 2 wounded soldiers found behind a large rock. He picked up both and moved them onto safe ground. He administrated first-aid until litter bearers arrived. For this act he was awarded the Bronze Star.
I admire Andy for his valor and courage on April of 1945. He single-handedly, defeated a Japanese attack against his unit. He unloaded a carbine at close range and threw mortar shells after activating them on the side of a rock, forcing them to retreat. He killed 25men and severely harmed himself. Former technical sergeant Beauford T. Anderson received his Medal Of Honor.

For his courage he should be an inspiration to everyone. He served for his country of honor. He showed strength and power. His will and determination helped our country win one of the biggest battle of the war. He received The Purple Heart, Medal of Honor, and The Bronze Star for some of the events that he did during the war.
