Billy Bishop was a World War I fighter pilot. He was born in February 8, 1894 in Ontario. He also grew up in Ontario. His parents were Margaret and Louise. He had 2 brothers and 1 sister. He was interested in Math and was also interested in Science. Billy tried to make a model plane and soon tested it. The first time he flew it, it crashed into a 7 foot fence and fell on him. His sister had to pull him out. When World War I started, he wanted to be a pilot. He dreamed of fighting the Red Baron.
Billy Bishop had two brothers and one sister. He also had his parents. Billy liked swimming, horse back riding and girls. Billy in the year 1911 when he was 11, he was enrolled into the royal military school at king’s man. Life in military school was hard. He had to follow orders, and if he did not he was punished. Usually it was a little whip on the hand with a leather stick the general carried. But if it happened constantly and you were whipped constantly you would be hit in the back. By the time he was 21 he was at the front.
I think a hero is someone who does something for not just him but for others. Like Billy Bishop fighting for his country. Billy died at the age of 62. He won 16 medals in his life. He also had 72 victories fighting over England. Anybody can be a hero if they try. A hero doesn’t have to be well known, Billy Bishop was well known for being a fighter pilot though. Billy Bishop was not married before he died. He was in the war too long.
Billy Bishop was a very important fighter pilot for WWI. Canada was very proud to have Billy in the war. Even though he was in France, he was still the best fighter pilot in WWI. When Billy died, many, many people remembered him. In the war Billy actually enjoyed it. Every day before the day he went in the war, he watched the planes pass him. He also pretended he was in a war and made a wooden plane to play with. By the time the war broke out he was signed up immediately.
