Who Is Billy Corgan?
Billy Corgan is the lead singer in The Smashing Pumpkins(an early nineties rock band formed in Chicago). He is an inspiration many people. His lyrics deal with issues like teen angst, suicidal feelings, and love. His unique musical style is praised by fans and critics. He has been involved in solo and side projects making albums such as Mary Star Of The Sea and TheFutureEmbrace. His album Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness is one of the greatest albums of the nineties. It has been compared with masterpieces such as the wall.
Why is he my hero? One reason Billy Corgan is my hero is because his music has changed the way I listen to music. Ive been listening to the Smashing Pumpkins for about 6 months now and it has changed the way I interpret lyrics riffs and solos. Since then I've been getting a lot more out of music.
Another reason is that I can relate to his lyrics. They really reach out to me in a way that no other music has. The lyrics really lift me up when I'm down for example in the song Today it says "Can't live for tomorrow Tomorrow's much too long I burn my eyes out Before I get out" This song is about living day after day doing the same thing and being tired of it. This relates to me some days.
Billy's personality is very different from most celebrities. He doesn't care about what the media thinks of him. All he cares about is making music. I find this very heroic like because he doesn't show a bad influence on young teens looking for someone to look up to.
Being a singer/songwriter I am inspired by lots of musicians, but no one has inspired me more than Billy Corgan. I often do my own renditions of his music. Although no one can match the voice of Billy Corgan. Some of his lyrics tell me stories and sometimes I like to continue those stories through my own songs, whether it be on Piano, Guitar, or Acappella. I sometimes like to sample his rhythms, beats or lyrics in my own work.
So to me, Billy Corgan is my Hero because he has changed the way I listen to music, his lyrics stand out to me, his personality is one to look up to, and His music inspire me to be a better musician.
