Do you know who the creator of Toms Shoes is? He has made a difference in peoples' lives. His name is Blake Mycoskie. He is a hero to many, including me. I consider him as a hero because he started Toms as a way to donate shoes for every pair bought. Although he wasn't a success in the beginning, he persevered and made a change in children's lives.

He is a hero because he only didn't think about himself, but he thought about the world around him. He thought about children's health. On a trip in Argentina, Blake Mycoskie noticed barefooted children with cuts and infections on their feet. He felt sad and he wanted to make a change. So he started Toms shoes as a way to donate a new pair of shoes for every pair bought to a child in need, One for One. He has donated more than one million pairs of shoes to children in need.

Blake Mycoskie was born in Arlington, Texas. As a kid he always was trying to make a change. Growing up, he had many good influences around him. He grew up with one sister, Paige and one brother Tyler Mycoskie. Blake and Paige both raced in the Amazing Race. He went to Southern Methodist University College. There he worked at E-Z Laundry managing 40 employees and 8 trucks. He left that job and started playing college tennis.

He has inspired me because he shows a great example of not giving up and finding a way to solve a big problem. He has impacted the world with something that matters and something that we have to be aware of. One day I also hope to make a change for a better world.

Some people think Toms are just fashionable shoes, but they don't realize what they could do for a child in need. Blake Mycoskie has truly made a change in the world and he has started something new.
