To a bunch of young black African Americans, Barack Obama is a hero. If hero was the topic of conversation, Barack Obama's name would pop up in the conversation. He is an African American candidate that is running for president and has made it farther than any other African American candidate running for the president position.

The birth of a hero, Barack Obama, happened on August 4th, 1961 in Hawaii. Barack's grandfather worked on oil rigs during the Great Depression and then signed up for World War II after Pearl Harbor. There, he marched in Patton's army. His grandmother went to work on a bomber assembly line. After the war his grandmother studied on the G.I. Bill.

Barack has completed other goals and tasks as an African American candidate running for president. Barack wanted to hold off on law school so he could move to Chicago. There Barack became a community organizer with a church type group. Barack wanted to improve the way people lived in bad neighborhoods. He realized that there was some success but if he wanted to make a difference then he had to improve politics and the government, as well as local communities. He earned his law degree from Harvard and was the first African American president of Harvard Law Review. Barack went back to Chicago to be a civil rights lawyer and teach constitutional law. His hard work led him to run for the Illinois State Senate. Barack served as state senator for 8 years. In 2004 he became the third African American since Reconstruction to be elected to the United States Senate.

He still believes in the ability to unite people for a purpose. The first thing Barack wants to do is solve the challenges in the political world. Barack worked with the Democrats and Republicans to help working families get ahead. A couple things Barack did was creating the state senate income tax credit, which in 3 years gave over 100 million in tax cuts to families across the state.

To a lot of young black Americans Barack Obama is a leader and also is a hero. He has achieved some great goals in his lifetime that everyone should cherish and appreciate. For an African American candidate running for president, he has made it further than any other African American candidate running for president. He is one of the wisest people ever running for president; if not one of the wisest, then he is the wisest African American candidate to run for president.
