Have you ever heard a biography about one of the greatest NFL runners of all time? Barry Sanders was born on July 16, 1968 in Topeka, Kansas. He is still living but has retired from a magnificent football career. Barry Sanders values education and all of these things make him my hero.

He is a great leader, and never showed off when he scored. Barry respected the referees for the hard job they have. Another character trait I admire about him is that he was very persistent because he didn’t give up. He was also very responsible.

Barry was awarded the Heisman trophy in 1988. Barry set the NCAA record for rushing yards in a season with 2,628. Other records he set were the NCAA record for touchdowns in a season and most all-purpose yards in a season with 3,249. Barry Sanders was the NFL rookie of the year in 1989.

People said he was too small to play football but he was picked third in the NFL draft to the Detroit Lions. With Barry’s good fortune in the NFL he chose to donate 200,000 dollars to his church. His loved his career but not as much as his wife Lauren and his three kids.

I want to be a football player. People say I’m tall in school, but when I play football I’m one of the shorter guys. Just like Barry I want a good education. Barry was very persistent. If I want to play football like Barry I will have to be persistent like him.

I hope one day some kids in their school will be writing like me.
