Buddy Valastro

My hero is Buddy Valastro, owner of Carlo’s Bakery. His talents and hard work has landed him starring in his own show (Cake Boss), including his guest appearances on the food network’s Cake Challenge. He failed time after time making and creating cakes on the Cake Challenge and he never gave up. This got him recognized as an extremely dedicated person. At age 11, Buddy started getting in trouble at school and his father found a way to teach him discipline. His father decided to let Buddy start working at his bakery, but not to make pastries. Buddy started washing dishes, cleaning floors, and everything except baking. He became infatuated with baking and decided that it was his passion. When Buddy was 17 he dropped out of school to run the bakery due to his father’s death. He continued to keep his father’s bakery alive even after his death.

When Buddy was 17, he dropped out of school to run his father's business after his death. This takes a truly talented and strong person to do what he did. Not only did he continue to run a successful business but he created a name for himself and his father’s bakery. He stars in his own baking show and cooking show. He has also helped out the community in many ways using his pastry work. He has made many different cakes and dessert for important people throughout the world. Including, the mayor and Rachel Ray.

Buddy is a hero because I think he truly is the definition of “real”. He is honest, hard working, and a family man. Buddy knows how to run a family-based business. He is fun and loveable, but when he needs to get down to business he makes it clear. Everybody knows that he is the boss and that he deserves respect. He is extremely hard working and shows it. When he needs to get something done, he works and works until it is completely finished and he is happy with it. I remember watching an episode of his show once, a cake was not done the way he liked it and he restarted everything. He is also a hero because he cherishes his family before anything. Everything he does revolves around his family. He works hard for them and comes out successful in the end.

Buddy has personally impacted my baking abilities. His show has further influenced me to continue my passion for baking and pastry. He makes it look like so much fun and it makes me realize that going to work doesn’t necessarily have to feel like “work”. Buddy Valastro has taught me so many things, just by doing what he does best. Just watching his show makes me a better pastry chef. I get so many ideas and new techniques from watching him that it makes me want to try everything. Not only is he an excellent person but his work is phenomenal.
