William G. Dance was born October, 7, 1940 in Collierville Tennessee. His wife is Dianne and he had 4 children, Bill Jr., Paul, Patrick and Pamela. He planned to be a doctor like his father, and his father, but when he was driving home from med school he found a grisly motorcycle wreck quickly changed his mind. He tried fishing in tournaments and, obviously, caught on. He is now the host of 2 fishing shows and winner of many, many, awards.
Some awards include: 1978 Congressional National Water Safety Award, US Army Corps of Engineers Commander's Achievement Award for Water Safety, Inductee: National Freshwater Hall of Fame, Professional Bass Fishing Hall of Fame, International Game Fish Association Hall of Fame, National Water Safety Spokesman for the US Coast Guard, and many more.
Bill dance is my hero because of his many accomplishments and awards. I think he could and should be a hero to many more young and aspiring fisherman and tournament participants. He mentors young fisherman and often takes his grandkids on his show. This is why Bill Dance is my hero.
