"People can do whatever they want if they set their heart to it and just never give up and just go out there and do it."(Hamilton). Bethany Hamilton, a young surfer, was attacked by a shark off the North Shore of Kauai, Hawaii when she was just 13 Years old. On February 8, 1990 she was born into a family of surfers and she learned surfing at a very early age. On October 31, 2003 she was attacked by a 14-foot long shark. Bethany enjoys helping other people and she goes on missions trips to share her story and show people that they can do anything that they set their minds to. Even through everything that Bethany has gone through in her life, she has not lost courage and she gives hope to others.

Bethany Hamilton never gave up; even after the attack she stayed strong. Bethany helped her family, friends, and even her doctors get through this crisis. "Lifeguards and doctors believe that her strong water sense and faith in God helped get her through the traumatic ordeal." (Bethany Hamilton). Through all of this, Bethany has had hope and pursued her dream of being a professional surfer. Bethany was not a quitter and she has gone through everything with one arm missing. She now goes out and shares her story with other people. "Bethany's story is continually growing and she strives to do the best at whatever God calls her to do."(Bethany Hamilton). Now Bethany goes on missions trips to third world countries to give people hope and spread a story around the world. Bethany kept her family strong and she helped them through this tough time. Bethany has stayed very tough and she never gave up. Bethany has helped many people and she is still going strong.

As soon as she possibly could, Bethany got back on her board and she never quit striving to do her best. Bethany quickly recovered and learned how to function with only one arm. "Miraculously, just one month after the attack, Bethany returned to the water to continue pursuing her goal to become a professional surfer."(Bethany Hamilton). Bethany pushed through all of her struggles and she ended up with what she always dreamed of. She now competes in surfing competitions against women that are not at all disabled and sometimes she even wins! Bethany Hamilton is a very courageous person that strives to do her best at everything. "Since losing her arm, Bethany's story has been told in hundreds of media outlets and she has been recognized with numerous awards, public appearances, and various speaking engagements."(Bethany Hamilton). She is now a very famous public speaker and she has won many awards for her courage and leadership. Now many people around the world have seen and heard Bethany's story and have found hope for their problems. Bethany's goal was not easy to reach but she never gave up and she had faith that never ceased.

Bethany has kept a strong faith and helps others by being hopeful and sharing her story. Shortly after her accident Bethany went on a mission's trip to Thailand to help victims of a tsunami. She talked to people there about what recently happened to her and how she got through it. Bethany shared her faith and happiness with the people of Thailand and helped them to overcome their grief and just to be thankful that they are alive. Bethany Hamilton inspires me by being hopeful and pursuing her dream. Even though she is now handicapped she still trusts in God for help because she knows that he has a plan with her life. Bethany has helped so many people all over the world by sharing her story of hope and faith.
