David Beckham

by Brianna from British Columbia

David Beckham is someone you can look up to not only for his sports accomplishments but his charity work as well. David lived an interesting life in England. He accomplished many sports titles as well as working in different charities like UNICEF. He's someone you can look up to because he didn't lose himself in fame.

David was born in Whipps Cross hospital on May 2 1975 in London, England, to his parents David Edward Allen ‘Ted’ Beckham and Sandra Georgina West. His dad is a kitchen fitter and his mom works in a hair salon. He also has two sisters, Joanne and Lynne. His mother’s side of the family is all Jewish, so Beckham claims to be half Jewish, which resulted in his always going to temple through his childhood. David also regularly played football in Ridgeway Park. He attended Chase Lane Primary School, Chingford Foundation School and Bradenton Preparatory Academy. Now, David is married to Victoria Adams (Posh Spice.) He married Victoria on July 4 1999, when she changed her name to Victoria Beckham. They now have three boys: Brooklyn Joseph, Romeo James, and Cruz David Beckham.

David Beckham had many different accomplishments, many not sports-related. He was captain of the England team until recently when he joined the LA Galaxy. He’s number 23 and he plays right winger. Aside from his football achievements, Beckham recently was paid 13.7 million when he launched a new line of after shave and fragrances called David Beckham Instinct. He’s appeared on countless magazine covers. He is also the spokesperson for “Malaria No More” and supports UNICEF. David became Good Will Ambassador for UNICEF with a special focus on the “Sports for Development” program.

I admire David Beckham because of his exceptional athletic ability in football. He was captain of the England team for 58 of his 94 games! I also love how he doesn’t let his fame go to his head and the fact that he uses it for good; he is part of charity groups like “UNICEF” and “Malaria No More.” The final reason why I admire David Beckham is his amazingly good looks. It’s hard not to look up to someone who looks like Beckham; if he got a mullet the rest of the world would decide that mullets were back in style. David has an impressive influence on fashion today!

David Beckham is someone to look up to. He lived a childhood like everyone else, but worked hard and made many accomplishments; in sports and charity. He impacted the sports world today, that's why I look up to David Beckham.
