Jerome Abram Bettis was born on February 16, 1972, in Detroit, Michigan. He graduated from Notre Dame College in Indiana. In 1993 Jerome Bettis was signed to the St. Louis Rams. In his rookie year he rush for 1429 yards and was named offensive rookie of the year. In his second year he rushed for only 1,000 yards and quickly earned the name The Battering Ram.
Bettis attended the University of Notre Dame and finished his career with 337 rushing attempts for 1,912 yards (5.7 yards per rushing attempt avg.), and made 32 receptions for 429 yards (13.4 yards per reception). In his last game as a senior, he rushed 20 times for 75 yards and led Notre Dame to a 28-3 victory over Texas A&M in the Cotton Bowl.
After the coach of the Rams retired, Jerome Bettis wasn't fitting into the team's plans so he got traded to the Pittsburgh Steelers in 1995. His career took an upturn after the trade, and Bettis became an integral part of the Steelers offense.
Jerome has been successful on and off the field. He started "The Bus Stops Here" Foundation. The foundation is to help people who are less fortunate. His foundation is helping people all arond the world who live in poverty. Even you can donate to the foundation.
Jerome bettis is my hero because of the example he sets. He has acheived a lot and he was determened to play football and be successful at it. He is going to be in the Hall of Fame. So that's why Jerome "The Bus " Bettis is my hero.
