George W. Bush

My hero is someone who doesn't receive nearly the amount of credit he deserves. He is the strong, caring leader of our country in times in and out of crisis. He is George Walker Bush, the 43rd president of the United States.

George W. Bush, also known as "Dubya" and "The Decider," is the son of George Herbert Walker Bush, a former president, and Barbara Bush. Raised in Texas, he married librarian and teacher Laura Welch. In 2000, George W. Bush, the chosen Republican candidate, was elected president of the United States, and was reelected in 2004. Many liberals and Democrats who opposed his nomination were not shy in showing their dislike for the new president, and didn't hesitate to make countless tasteless jokes about him. But even that didn't hide the fact the George W. Bush was a strong leader who would stand up for what he believed in, no matter what.

September 11th was a time when George W. Bush demonstrated his incredible leadership ability to guide our country through a bleak time of despair. He has continuously stood by his stance to fight the war on terror, so that our country could once again sleep peacefully. He has shown that he will stand by his word no matter what and not give up. He believes in our troops, and cares too much about our country to turn back and give up.

What initially drew me to George W. Bush was the fact that he is an evangelical Christian, as am I. He is a man of integrity, wisdom and faith. His moral judgment has earned him my respect and graditude. I think every day about how lucky I am to have a president with such a strong faith, someone whom I can trust.

I keep President Bush in my prayers every night. He has proven himself worthy of our honor and dedication. This man has done much more for our country than I can fathom, and his strength and leadership continuously amaze me. It saddens me how he doesn't always receive the admiration and respect he deserves. But to me, he is a hero, and I feel blessed to live in a country lead by such a remarkable man.
