In honor of C.S. Lewis I did research about this hero in “Biography Today." I chose C.S. Lewis. After the research, I was glad I did because I learned so much about him.
Who knew such a normal beginning would give the world such a hero? C.S. Lewis was born on November 29, 1889. Lewis lived in Belfast. Lewis’s father’s name was Albert Lewis, and his mother’s name was Florence Hamilton Lewis. Lewis had a sheltered and quiet life that was marked by death and sorrow. He grew up in a house filled with many books. He was reading before he was five. The first book he read was called Squirrel Nut kin by Beatrix Potter. He also liked Gulliver’s travels by Jonathan swift. When he was five he was writing essays about books he read. He began writing because he had a physical defect. He was born with a missing thumb joint. It made it difficult to do much of anything that required manual dexterity, except write.
The foundation of heroism is education. Lewis’s educational life started at home with his mom teaching him French and Latin until she died. Then he and his brother were sent to boarding school in England. After a while their dad brought them home because school was doing nothing for them, and when Lewis was 16 he went to study with his dad’s former tutor. It was the most beneficial former experience Lewis had had up to that point. Lewis was admitted to University College, part of the prestigious colleges that made up Oxford University. He enrolled in Officer training corps. When he learned in the corps he wouldn’t need to take math exams. Lewis started college in 1917. During WW1, after his first term, he enrolled in the British army and was sent to France.
Hard work contributes to heroism. Lewis had a distinguished career as a scholar of medieval literature. Lewis was also a speaker and writer of Christianity and as the author of a number of works of popular science fiction and fantasy.

C.S. Lewis is important to mankind and changed the world. Lewis is important because he wrote so many essays and books about Christianity, medieval history, and a series of books called the Chronicles of Narnia. He is also important because he was a professor of Medieval English at Cambridge and wrote the stories in his spare time from teaching. C.S. Lewis died in 1963.
