"What do you want a meaning for? Life is a desire, not a meaning"
Charles Chaplin
Charles Chaplin

Charles Spencer Chaplin Jr was born on 16 April, 1889, in London, England. His parents were actors and singers. Charles was an actor, director, writer, producer and a British composer.

Charles Chaplin came from a very poor family. His father, who was an alcoholic singer, used to sing jazz and blues. His mother was an actress. Charles’s father died when he was 12. He and his brother, Sidney, had to spend a lot of time in orphanages because their mother, who suffered schizophrenia, couldn’t look after her children. This problem didn’t stop Charlie; he and his brother started acting. Later Sidney became Charlie’s agent and Charles starred in many films. If he hadn't had this willpower, he wouldn't be able to do this.

Charles had the ability to make people laugh with simple jokes in his films. I think that now the meaning of humor is very vulgar, but in spite of this there are a lot of people that enjoy Chaplin’s films. One of the most important films that he starred was “The Great Dictator”, where he showed he was against Hitler. He was a real artist who always showed what he thought and felt in his films with a lot of humor.

In conclusion, Charles Chaplin was very important because he proved that we can get what we want in spite of everything. He was very poor and his parent’s situation wasn’t good, he went through bad times, but he never gave up. He was strong and continued with all his projects. Besides, his humor is universal and makes anyone laugh ! I think his message was that we can’t get depressed when everything is bad; if we have a bad day, the best thing we can do is laugh! And try again. I think Chaplin was a genius.

"A day without laughter is a day wasted"
