What is a hero to you? A hero is not just a person who fights crime or flies with super powers. A hero to me is someone normal like Cesar Chavez. He was born March 31, 1927 and died April 23, 1993. When he lived as a kid he lived in north Gila, near Yuma, Arizona. He had a big family and was one of six children. His parents owned a ranch and a small grocery store. In the 1930’s they lost everything because of the Great Depression.

His family had to be moving every time. He actually had to attend to 30 different schools because his parents couldn’t find a stable job. During the 8th grade he had to drop out of school. He looked for a job to support his family. Years passed and he had then met a woman named Helen. She also was a person with a migrating family. They got married and by 1959, he had 8 children. In order to keep his family up he had to go back to farmland work.

Cesar Chavez was a great leader to many people. He is important to me because he never gave up on himself. He inspires me because he tried his best to get equal rights. Because of him people are encouraged to speak of what’s right or wrong. Even though I am young and don’t have the right to vote but soon everything will be equal. Life to him wasn’t very good. He struggled to keep himself alive. I struggle to keep on going in school and in life. We both have a lot in common.

He made a difference in a lot of people's lives. I keep in mind that Cesar Chavez never gave up so neither should I. We are now the future and not depending on our skin color or race we are from, but on the rights we deserve. We are one big family even though we speak different languages. Wars and racialism are stupid and worthless because there is nothing to really fight and kill each other about. He now rests in peace knowing he made a change. His legend will continue and will be revived by someone who works as hard as him to be heard. More rights will be set and life will be better for more human beings.

Life goes around many times for many people who migrate and want to live the American dream. Work hard and never forget about your pride. My hero was a great person. I would have wished to have met him and thank him for making a change. In memory of Cesar Chavez we appreciate him for all he has done. R.I.P Cesar Chavez. Our new chance to make a change is President Obama.
