Heroes don’t need a special outfit, cape, mask, or super powers. A hero is anybody that does good deeds that come from the heart, not just someone who is famous. To me, a hero is kind, helpful, holy, fun, courteous, brave, and friendly. If you ask me, all of those things can be used to describe a certain man; Chris Daughtry. He is a great hero because he goes to poor places like Uganda and helps the people living there get proper nutrition, protection from disease, blankets, and medicine.

Daughtry was born on December 26, 1979, in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina. He loved music ever since he was born, and has decided to stay with it. His full name is Christopher Adam Daughtry. He is still an amazing singer and has started his own band; Daughtry.

Chris Daughtry started an organization that is called “Daughtry Gives Back” because on American Idol his fans gave him so much support; he felt that he should give support to people in poor countries like Uganda. He gets them many things that they need because many kids are cold, sick, or malnourished. Daughtry helps many underdeveloped countries worldwide, and he finds things that can help many people in different conditions. He saves lives and has never ruined one. He is involved in an organization called One. At One, they contact country leaders to get to the people and put an end to world poverty.

Daughtry is not only helping kids and adults in poor places; he is also supporting, with his entire band, the POAC (Parents of Autistic Children). He doesn’t only help them personally but also performed on December 4th and 5th in the Nokia Center, donating a portion of the money POAC (POAC stands for parents of autistic children). POAC is a non- profit organization that provides free training to teachers, fire protection, and much more to help autistic people.

Daughtry is a great hero. I can sum up that he has saved many lives and made many lives easier. You can too by donating. He is my hero because many people would not have the courage to go to the poor countries that are being saved by him and his band. Chris Daughtry is a true American hero.
