I choose this book because Chris Hatfield is a very interesting person. He is my hero. This book is an autobiography book. He wrote this book. This book is 270 pages long. This book covers the time span since he was 9, but it jumps back and forth. The first fact is that he is an astronaut. I think that pretty cool. The second fact is that he went into space. The third fact is that he knows how to fly over 20 planes.
Chris Hadfield was born August 29, 1959, Sarnia, Ontario, Canada. He was raised in Milton, Ontario.Their family lived on a corn farm for awhile when he was younger. In the book Chris Hadfield didn't talk much about his family. He has 5 children now. Chris Hadfield had to take a 2 hour bus ride to get to school. There and back it took 2 hours. Chris Hadfield was interested in science, math, planes, and water skiing. He got his glider license when he was 15. When he was 16 he got his flying license. Helene (his wife) when he was working to be an astronaut she encouraged him. When Chris Hadfield was nine years old, he was at his cabin at the lake. They were watching Neil Armstrong walking on the moon. He walked outside and stared at the moon. At that moment he decided he wanted to be a astronaut. Chris Hadfield had known since he was 9 years old what he wanted to be. He was determined to be an astronaut. There wasn't anything that changed his mind.
Chris Hadfeild had to face a challenge of overcoming a loss of a friend. He and his friend in fighter pilots school where doing an air show. His friend was married and had 3 children. He was flying a plane that was having a mechanical problem as he was doing a trick in the air. All of a sudden his plane started swirling down to the ground. He couldn't control it. Then it hit the ground. Boom! All that was found of his remains was the flesh of his heel. Chris Hadfield was traumatized for a short little while. That is one of the challenges. Another one is that there was a leak in the ISS (International Space Station) in 2013. Chris Hadfield had to perform an emergency space walk to fix the leak. He overcame these challenges because he went to his next goal. Much of his success is probably due to NASA and the Canadian space agency, because they offered him the job to become an astronaut. Chris Hadfield is one of the most successful astronauts in the world. He was determined. One of his qualities is that he is very wise, because he made a decision that affected his family. He made sure his family was happy and safe. Chris Hadfield is also very smart. He is smart because he is an astronaut and can fly over 20 different types of planes. He is also very courageous, because he took chances in life to become where he is now. I don't know of any weakness of Chris Hadfield. When Chris Hadfield took over 45000 pictures in space, he received so many awards there are too many to write down. He is a very very successful man.
I didn't learn anything surprising or disappointing about Chris Hadfield. If I was able to ask him 3 questions... What is your favourite part in space? How does it feel when you're blasting up into space? Does it feel weird sleeping in space? I wouldn't want to this person's child because his expectations might be too high. At the same time though I would because he's pretty cool. I really liked the book, but it got a bit boring. There were a lot of exciting parts too though. I didn't learn a lot from the book. But I did learn how hard it is to pee in space. The one lesson I learned from this is that you shouldn't hold back. You should just go for it. I don't think lots of kids will read this book because they wouldn't like it or they'll never even consider it. I am very happy that I chose this book because I didn't know how interesting his life was. I would consider Chris Hadfield as a role model to someone, because he is very successful and smart.
