"I am posting this flag at half mast in honor of a great American hero, Chris Kyle. His own government won't honor him properly,so I will." (Former Marine) Chris Kyle always knew that he wanted to follow in his father's footsteps and do something to serve his country. He had more reported kills than any other sniper. He has shot one of the best Iraqi snipers who was also an Olympic gold medalist from a mile away during a sandstorm.
Chris was born and raised in Texas and he has one brother who is a marine. Chris Kyle died on February 2, 2013 and was killed by a former marine, Eddie Routh. Routh shot Chris in the back of the head 5 times at a shooting range. Chris left behind his wife and two kids. Chris Kyle is a hero because he never left a man behind. Chris had many opportunities to leave a man in order to protect himself, but he never did that. Chris understood that every man/women there had something to fight for. Whether it be his country or her family Chris knew that every one of them deserved to get out of that war alive and he would do everything he could to make sure that happened.

Chris Kyle is considered a hero because he is selfless and brave. He risked his life to save many of his fellow marines, and never looked for the easy way out. Chris always knew he wanted to do something for his country. After 9/11 he decided to enroll as a Navy SEAL. In 1999 Chris enrolled in the BUDS Program as a part of training to become a SEAL. An example of Chris' bravery was when he was stationed in Iraq a group of Marines almost got killed by a lady with a grenade but Chris shot her from 400 yards away before she was able to throw it. ( American Sniper 2008) This text proves that even when Chris had the choice of killing someone, which he never wanted to do, he realized the lives of his fellow seals and marines are much greater than those of a bomber's. In addition to Chris Kyle showing bravery he also shows selflessness. For instance Chris once saved a group of Marines who were being being held captive. While causing a distraction so the marines could get back to safety, Chris was shot. (Hollywood News 2009) This text proves that even when Chris knew he could be killed he was willing to risk his life for the rest of his military. In light of this information don't you think that Chris Kyle, American Sniper was amazing hero and deserved better than to be shot and killed by a former Marine once he returned home? He is a hero to many families.
Chris had saved so many people that families actually started reaching out to him for help when their son or daughter returned from the war and had PTSD. Chris knew what they were going through so he started volunteering at the veteran's hospital. He helped many people there because he could compare stories with them. He helped the veteran's families too, because he knows that it not just the veterans who are fighting a battle it's their families too. He actually wrote a book telling his story and tried to express that he wasn't the only one fighting a battle his family was too. All Chris ever wanted to do was help people. So when he tried to help Eddie Routh as a favor to his mother he was shot along with Chris' who tagged along with them that day at the shooting range.
Chris Kyle is my hero because I look up to him he is brave and selfless. On February 2 please lower your flag in honor of America's Hero. Chris Kyle is not even honored by his own government. The president asked for a moment of silence after Whitney Houston's self-induced death and never said a word about the death of one of America's hero, Chris Kyle. He deserved better...
