"Every person I killed I strongly believe that they were bad. When I do go face God there is going to be lots of things I will have to account for but killing any of those people is not one of them." -Chris Kyle. Courageous, noble, bold, selfless, fearless, and a hero are all what Chris Kyle is to me. He isn't just a hero for being in the military, he is a hero for protecting everyone that mattered to him on base and off. Some people don't think of what's happening in the world right now, but Chris Kyle had to. I know I'm not in the military but what I do know is that only the bravest people decide to leave home to protect us. Chris had a family just like most Americans, but he went to fight for every person in America so when you go home everyday you would know that your family is safe. I strongly believe that life wouldn't be the same without the "Legend".
The "Legend" is the nickname that Chris earned for himself from his many years of service as a Navy Seal overseas in Iraq. He served his time for so many years, not for the praise but for the satisfaction that the "savages" were no longer a threat to his men or women. "Savages" was the nickname that Chris gave to each person he killed because they wanted to kill U.S military just for joy. People like that didn't scare the Legend; he just got scared of losing his family. While he was in Iraq he lost one of his brothers, Puggles, from a shot in the eye. He died in the middle of his surgery and it broke Chris's heart. The sniper that killed Puggles was 2,100 yards away (around 21 football fields) from Chris and despite the distance he was able to kill the sniper that killed Puggles. He died and it was and still is a legendary shot.
When Chris wasn't deployed he visited his family in Texas and would spend time with his wife and two beautiful children. He has a boy and a girl who are both very young and sweet. On one of his last tours he was stuck in a sand storm and got shot in the leg as he was running away from the "savages". He lost his truck in the storm then they found him running with a bullet in his leg. If he hadn't survived that, I probably wouldn't be writing this right now because that is a fact that means something to me. Can you imagine running away from people trying to shoot you down and have one wound already? Because I can't. Chris Kyle has influenced me to start helping others that have helped me in life.
When he left the Seals he wanted to help the veterans that he couldn't save in the war. His counselor told him to go to the veterans recovery center to see what he has done for the military. He really wanted to give back to the vets, so he took each one to a shooting range to get back to what they used to do. On February second Chris took Eddie Ray Routh to a shooting range and as he was getting out of the truck he was shot by Routh and the "legend" and his best friend, Chad Littlefield, died. February 2, 2013 is the day no one can ever forget. It's the day that we lost the most lethal sniper in American history and not just that, we lost a member of the marine family. Chris Kyle is my inspiration to never give up on something and if it seems to hard for you that is exactly why you should do it. We won't forget this humble hero because his memories forever rest in our hearts. He lived from 1974-2013.
Chris is not only a figure of history but is an example of a true hero. The reason I chose Chris Kyle was because he stood out from any other person in the world. He put himself on the line just to keep us from getting hurt. As I said before I believe we would be living different lives without Chris Kyle. I can't describe to you how much of a hero Chris is to me. When I knew we were writing essays on our heroes my first thought was Chris Kyle because he didn't care what happened as long as everyone that mattered to him was no longer in danger. "I've lived the literal meaning of the 'land of the free' and 'home of the brave.' It's not corny for me. I feel it in my heart. I feel it in my chest." -Chris Kyle. The most lethal sniper in American history is now at peace with no war and is watching over us to make sure we are safe from harm.
