When you search heroine up in the dictionary the results come up as a woman of courage and ability; admired for her brave deeds, or who has saved a life. To me though, a hero or heroine could be someone who inspires to dream; not just the Hulk or Ironman, but someone who can turn the worst situations into the most encouraging. Corinne Bailey Rae is just that person. I was never into the music world before, but when I was browsing on ITunes I came across one of her albums "The Sea." Instantly I was looking for other songs and albums of hers.

Born in Leeds, England on February 26, 1979 Corinne Jacqueline Bailey was born. With a family of talent she was bound to one day become famous. At a young age she was accustomed to music by playing the violin and moving on to the guitar in her teen years. From playing at jazz clubs to playing in her own concerts she met her husband Jason Rae, a saxophone player. Her singles were all selling fast, and was nominated for three Grammy's in 2007.

When all seemed great and she was working with several different artists everything took a turn for the worst. Her loving husband of four years had passed away of a horrific drug overdose. She looked at the moment of not just sadness and mourning, but a way of memory and all of the good not the bad. She knew in fact that her husband died of an overdose, but instead of locking herself up in a lonely room she stimulated herself to move on, but not forget. She wrote songs about Jason Rae and contributed an album to him to show the world she was not afraid.

This inspired me greatly to thrive. Her songs had passion and love intertwined which makes them extremely beautiful. Corinne Bailey Rae showed people that even that there are hard things to face for everyone, but it's all ok in the end. Whenever I feel bad or sad I turn on one of her songs and it makes me feel all better once again. She showed the world that even movie stars and musicians have feelings, and instead of hiding behind the media or doing something extremely crazy; there are some more subtle ways to express your bad feelings.

"I could pretend that I was OK, I wind around the parties, drink in hand I could pretend when you went away That I had changed and I no longer hear the band"  - Corinne Bailey Rae. One of the many excerpts from one of her songs. Many people may believe that a musician is the last thought about a hero, but for me it's my first. Even a single line of hope and determination can motivate anyone.
