Cristiano Ronaldo

Cristiano Ronaldo was born February 5, 1985 in Santo Antonio, Portugal. Despite all his fame and money he has now Cristiano did not always have an easy life. Their home growing up was a small shack that had a tin roof on the outside of town. His father was a gardener that drank very heavily and made little money. Cristiano's father died at a young age. Ronaldo's mother also had to work has a cook and cleaning lady just to have money to feed and clothe the family. Cristiano started professional soccer career with man united at the age of 16. Most teens just start driving at 16 while Ronaldo was playing for the best team in Europe. Now plays for Real Madrid and on the Portugal national team. In 2004 Cristiano scored the first goal in the FA cup final in 2008 he broke the club's scoring record now setting in at 42 goals in one season. Ronaldo let his team to three premier league titles. He would later to on to sign a contract with Real Madrid where he still plays today.

Ronaldo has also contributed and given much of his money back and shares his success with the less fortunate. He donated over 100,000 euros to his mother to help her with her battle against breast cancer. Through all his fame he didn't forget his roots and the people that helped him get to where he is today. Ronaldo also donated money to pay for a young boy to get surgery and tests for the boy's illness. To pay tribute to the boy Ronaldo got his hair cut like the scar the boy would have after his surgery and played in the world cup. Cristiano has changed the way many youth soccer players play the game of soccer. His fast footwork, powerful shot and speed have all revolutionized the way a majority of youth soccer players want to play and what they wear and the way they wear the equipment. He has many pairs of cleats worn by a majority of youth players and even some of Ronaldo's opponents. Ronaldo has won the balon de oro, which is given to the best player in the world, multiple times.

Ronaldo is one of the most important players of this generation because he has revolutionized the game of soccer forever with his play style, confidence, and swagger on and off the pitch. He has come from humble beginnings and remembered his family and all that have helped him along the way. Ronaldo is arguably the best player of this generation.
