Charles Schulz

You know Charles Schulz as the famed creator of Charlie Brown and the Peanuts, but this comic couldn't have had a humbler beginning. He was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota with Carl and Dena Schulz for two loving parents. His father, a St. Paul barber often had him over on weekends and vacations at the barber shop. One of the few pastimes he had was reading the newspaper comics and one of the places his idea for a comic strip spawned. Snoopy also played a part in the creation of Peanuts when Spike a black and white dog was adopted by the Schulz's adopted him. Spike was the inspiration for Snoopy. As he grew older he married Joyce Halverson and they had 5 children. After almost 50 years Schulz wrote a farewell in his last daily comic. After 1 month of retirement he died at 77 from colon cancer and the next day his last Sunday funny. Now 12 years later he is still a giant in comics. And that is why Charles Schulz is my hero
