My hero is Claus von Stauffenberg, a courageous Wehrmacht colonel who fought and died for a cause. He brushed aside the fact that if he was to be successful he would be put to death by Hitler's commanders. He was involved in the July 20 failed assassination plot of Adolf Hitler, and was put to death by firing range the next day. He felt that it was right to stop the war and save countless German lives if he was successful. He is a definite paragon of courage.
Claus wasn’t always in support of overthrowing Hitler. In fact, Hitler was very kind to his family. Not until Claus found out about the atrocious acts of genocide did he decide that it would be better for his countrymen and for the Jews that were being slaughtered. He lived in Bavaria, Germany. He was born in 15 November 1907 and died on the 21 of July, 1944.
Claus inspired many other assassination plots, which sadly failed. If it were not for him, the German people would not have realized that Hitler was ruining the country. Because of Claus, the German army, the Wehrmacht, surrendered to the Allies. The Allies showed great kindness towards the people who they were fighting weeks ago.
Claus von Stauffenberg has inspired me because of the hard work, courage and bravery he needed to be able to do what he did. He did not once stop and say, “I can't do this, I'm scared.” He might have been scared, but that did not stop him from doing the job that would freak other people out because of the anxiety. He is a hero to me not because of the courage, or the bravery, or even the hard work. He is a hero to me because of the skill to be able to know when something must be done and took charge.
What he did on July 20 took an iron will. His courage is known throughout Germany and in some places in America. That is why he is my hero. I look up to someone who can know what's best.
