A hero is someone who is superior to the other people you know. A hero is a person that you look up to and look at all of their life accomplishments. A hero doesn't have to be someone famous it could be any one who inspires you to be great.

C.C. Sabathia was born on July, 21, 1980 in Vallejo, California. C.C's full name is Carsten Charles Sabathia Jr. When C.C. was younger his grandmother was the one that had originally stated C.C. because his full name was such a mouthful. His parents' names are Margie and Carsten Sr. Margie had worked as a telephone operator, his father Carsten Sr. was a sports fanatic. When C.C. was younger he had a hero of his own; Muhammad Ali because he was all about boxing. His father Carsten had told C.C. about boxing stories from the 1960s and 1970s.

In 1992 C.C's father had left the family when C.C was at the age of 12. When Carsten Sr. left, Margie took a keen interest in C.C.'s baseball career. She had invested in catcher's gear that she could use with C.C. This shows how much she believed in her son's ability to be great someday. She had also closely monitored his little league games and helped him develop a trademark off the field. In high school C.C. had played baseball, football and basketball. C.C. received college scholarships for all three of those sports. However he chose baseball because he has had a passion for baseball since the first time he stepped on the diamond at the age of four. C.C. had a baseball team all the way through high school which had originated only in his neighborhood, the players who had played on this team still have a strong lasting connection today.

While C.C was growing up, he had been a San Francisco Giants fan and Oakland A's fan. C.C's baseball idols were Barry Bonds and Ken Griffey Jr. when they started to come into their prime. When C.C. was in high school he was a 6-3, 200 something pound monster. Baseball scouts in California had heard of a man child breaking 90mph in wine country. The coaches that he played for at this time couldn't wait to get their hands on the giant monster. C.C on top of being a top baseball player in the state, was a top power forward for basketball, and top tight end for football. He had received a scholarship for football, basketball and baseball. For football he was heavily recruited to UCLA and the University of Hawaii. His intent was to go to the University of Hawaii, but he told them he might go harder for a baseball career. C.C was listed as northern California's top prep prospect for Baseball.

In 1998 C.C. was starting to get popular. C.C. was picked 20th overall in the 98' draft by the Cleveland Indians. In 2000 C.C was Cleveland's #1 prospect and the #2 prospect overall in the eastern league. C.C had become a big-leaguer at the age of 20, with a 17-5 record with 171 strikeouts which is incredible for his first year in the league. After an outstanding rookie campaign the expectations got higher and he had a 5yr. contract on his doorstep. After pretty good years in Cleveland he got traded to Milwaukee and helped to get them to their first playoff since the 1980's. But then the Yankees opened their wallets and got C.C to come to the New York Yankees for a record breaking 7yr. 161 million dollar contract and he is living up to every million in in N.Y by being the ace. C.C is a great person off the field for having charity foundations and renovating baseball fields. He's doesn't only play baseball he gives back to his community
