Chad Ochocinco

by Alec from Billings

Everybody loves a football player who talks a lot of trash, and is really good at the position he plays. There are many players that are like this, but nobody does it quite like my hero. My hero is Chad Ochocinco and he is an awesome football player.

Chad Ochocinco lives in Cincinnati, Ohio, and is a wide receiver for the Cincinnati Bengals. Chad Javon Ochocinco was born on January 9, 1978 in Miami, Florida. Chad is six feet one inch and weighs 192 pounds; he is muscular and black and bald. He attended Miami Beach Senior High School, then went to an all black university in Langston, Oklahoma. Then he transferred to a community college in Santa Monica, California. The next year he transferred to Oregon State University because the OSU coach recruited him aggressively. While attending Oregon State, he played along-side his future Cincinnati Bengals teammate T.J. Houshmandzadeh. In 2001 Chad was drafted as the thirty-sixth pick in the 2001 NFL draft.(Wikipedia)

In Chad's first year in the NFL, he did not see much playing time, he only caught 28 passes for 369 yards and one touchdown. In 2002 he caught fire and started piling up stats: he caught 69 passes for 1,166 yards and five touchdowns. From 2003-2005 he caught 282 passes for 4,061 yards and 28 touchdowns. On April 20, 2006, Ochocinco signed a contract extension for seasons through 2011. Chad was injured for the first eight games of the season in 2006, so he only caught two touchdown passes and racked up 483 yards receiving. The next game he had 260 yards receiving, which broke the previous Bengals record of 216. After he caught a 39 yard touchdown pass, he went to the sideline and put on a jacket that read "future HOF(hall of famer) 20??." That season he caught 87 passes for 1,369 yards and 7 touchdowns. He led the league in receiving yards which was the first time ever that a Bengals receiver has led the league in receiving yards. Over the span of 2007-2009, Chad had 218 catches for 3,017 yards. Following a disappointing 2008 season where he racked up 540 yards on 53 catches, he bounced back with another 1,000 yard season in 2009.(1)

As you can tell, my hero is a great player in the NFL. He talks a lot of trash and plays hard, which is exactly the kind of players that I look up to as a hero. When I grow up I want to be just like Chad Ochocinco because he's my favorite wide receiver in the NFL.
