Like many WNBA players, during the off-season Pondexter plays basketball overseas. She has played for Fenerbahce in Turkey. Pondexter was named MVP of the Euro league All Star Game. Currently she plays for UMMC Ekaterinburg where her team celebrated with the titles of the 2008-2009 Russian Champions as well as the Russian Cup Winners.

This natural born leader has repeatly been named Captain and Co-captain of her teams from college to international basketball. She was Co-captain of the 2005 USA World University Games Team that won the Gold medal with a perfect 7-0 record in Turkey; Co-captain of the 2003 USA World Championship for Young Women Team that captured the Gold medal with a 7-1 record in Croatia; and Co-captain of the 2002 USA World Championship for Young Women Qualifying Team that finished with a 4-0 record and the Gold medal. Pondexter was selected to be a member of the USA Basketball Womens Senior National Team that won the 2008 Olympic Gold Medal in Beijing, China.

Inspired by the sheer love of the game, Pondexter wants to be the greatest woman to ever play the game. She has proven time and again that she will do whatever it takes to continue to excel. When Pondexter is not on the court, she plays with her puppies "Snooze and Maxx," who accompany her overseas. She also relaxes and lets her body recover from the grueling game schedules. Like other professional players, Pondexter has a few pre-game rituals; she must take a shower, shave under her arms, listen to music and pray during the national anthem. However many superstitions Pondexter has, it has proven to be a winning combination for her on the court.

During her spare time, the Phoenix Mercury player enjoys listening to music, shopping and reading. The daughter of Leo and Vanessa Pondexter, she has one brother, Ronald, who inspired her to pursue her basketball dreams and one sister, Latoya Pondexter. Pondexter is extremely proud of the WNBA and its current president. She believes it will continue to grow and develop into a strong business and maybe one day competes with the NBA.

Followed by countless awards, Pondexter is undoubtedly on her way to becoming one of the greatest that has every played the game. Knowing that she must continue to work hard to be the best, Pondexter said "I will love and respect the game at all cost. I will work to be a proven winner."
