"All the boos and insults just motivate me to train harder and play better". Today, I would like to introduce a man to you by the name of Cristiano Ronaldo dos Santos Aveiro. Or more commonly known as Cristiano Ronaldo or CR7. Cristiano was born on February 5th, 1985 in Funchal, Madeira in Portugal. He was born into an extremely humble set of parents, Maria Dolores dos Santos Aveiro and Jose Dinis Aveiro.
Cristiano started his soccer career at the young age of eight for the club called Andorinha. When he was just eleven years old, he went to Sporting Lisbon and played there until he was seventeen. He then started to attract the attention of major clubs such as Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United. He was signed in the pre-season of 2003 to Manchester United. Ronaldo dazzled manager Sir Alex Ferguson with his skills and talent. The transfer cost United a total of 15 million euros. Ronaldo made his debut for the club by coming off of the bench against the Bolton Wanderers and scored his first goal from a free kick against Porstmouth. Soon after this, Ronaldo took part in the 2004 Euro Cup. Portugal and Ronaldo made it to the final, only to be defeated by underdogs Greece. In the 2006 World Cup, he was involved in controversy regarding the sending off of his English United teammate Wayne Rooney. In Manchester, he was scapegoated for it and was seriously thinking of leaving Manchester. Manager Sir Alex Ferguson convinced him to stay, and he ended up having one of the best seasons of his career. In 2008, he won both the FIFA Player of the World award, and the UEFA European Player of the Year Award. In 2009, Ronaldo was transferred to Real Madrid for a fee of 130 million US dollars, officially making him the most expensive football player. More than 80,000 fans welcomed him in the Santiago Bernabao. Ronaldo is currently playing Left Wing for Real Madrid and having a stellar start to the season with Madrid 3rd in the La Liga table.
On the 3rd of July, 2010, Cristiano announced that he had become a father to a young baby boy by the name of 'Cristiano Ronaldo Jr.' There is a big mystery regarding the mother of the child, but Ronaldo has full custody and is taking care of his child with the help of his mother and sisters.

He has also done a lot of Philanthropic work. In 2004, after the earthquake and the tsunami in the Indian Ocean, television footage showed a child wearing a CR7 jersey who was stranded for 19 days. After this, he visited Aceh to provide funds for rehabilitation. In 2009, Ronaldo donated 100,000 euros to the hospital that saved his mother's life. She won a long battle with cancer. In May of 2012, he and his agent pledged to fund treatment for a nine year old boy who had been battling cancer since he was two years old.
I chose Cristiano Ronaldo as my hero because every time that I play soccer, he inspires me to do better. I play the same position as him, wear the same cleats as him, and wear his jersey while supporting his club. Every time that I see him try out a new move, I will grab a ball and try to do it. He also has great amounts of kindness to give to the world and his supporters. All in all, Cristiano Ronaldo dos Santos Aveiro is a good man and a hero. My hero.
