Iron Chef Cat Cora was born and raised in Jackson, Mississippi. She grew up wanting and loving to cook. Her grandfather and father both owned restaurants. Cooking was her life at such a young age. By the time she had turned 15 she had already made her a business plan for her restaurant. According to wikipedia, she would watch her grandmother cook and as she got older she always wanted to help.

Cat Cora was inspired by many people. Some of those people were Julia Child, Barbara Tropp, M.F.K Fisher and the most important one is her grandmother Alma. She was enrolled in the Culinary Institute of America in New York City. According to Wikipedia, she also received her Bachelor's in Science Degree in Exercise Physiology & Biology. Her favorite dish Is Kota Kampama which is Greek Cinnamon Chicken. Her cooking style is a mix of her Greek and Southern roots. She even went to school in Europe!!! While in school she had many apprenticeships such as one with George Blanc and Roger Verge.

According to Food Network she has worked for Chef Anne Rozenweig at Arcadia. She also worked as a Sous Chef at The Old Chatham Sheparding Company under Melissa Kelly. Her first booked published was named "Cat Cora's Kitchen". She is now working on " Cooking From the Hip" her newest book (Food Network). She has appeared on many TV shows such as The Wayne Brady Show, Regis and Kelly, and Simplify Your Life. She has accomplished great things during her life so far. Some of the things would be that she was the winner of the Bon Appetit American Food and entertaining award for 2006. She also co-founded Chefs- for Humanity in Jan. of 2005 ( Wikipedia). She has even developed The Cat Cora Show devoted to talk about food and wine.
