The soldiers in Iraq work long days and hours and never get to hear the voices or see the faces of their loved ones but Cell Phones for Soldiers makes it possible for the armed services to do those things.

Cell Phones for Soldiers started April 2004 by a 13 year old named Brittany Norwell and her 12 year old brother Robbie Norwell. Brittany is a devoted and is a very smart person. Robbie is a perseverant and a willing person. They first thought of helping the soldiers in Iraq when they read in the newspaper that a soldier spent thousands of dollars trying to call home. Their goal from then on was to help soldiers overseas call home. They have helped thousands of soldiers by prepaying their calls. Two ways they do this are by collecting
• Used cell phones and
• Cell phone cards
AT&T has donated $500,000 worth of cell phone cards to Brittany and Robbie’s organization.

Cell Phone for Soldiers is a non-profitable organization. Brittany and Robbie take the cell phones to a special recycling plant that reuses cell phones and gives money for them. After they receive money from recycling the cell phones, they send the money to soldiers calling home so they don’t have to pay for it. All over the United States, there are fund raisers so get active.
