When most people think of heroes they think of superman or other superheroes, but real heroes have no capes or fancy outfits, real heroes are people just like you and me. Heroes don’t need any fancy gadgets all heroes need is a will to stay strong and never give up. Heroes overcome great odds and prove everyone wrong. This is why I chose Jackie Chan as my hero.

Jackie Chan was born in 1951 in Hong Kong, China. When he was born he was twelve pounds! He grew up in poverty until he was six. He failed school and only received a first grade education. Jackie was sent to Perka opera school in Hong Kong, where he learned acting and martial arts.

After opera school Jackie started acting in action movies. Not only were his movies loved but he did his own dangerous stunts. After he left China to go make movies in America he was an instant star. Recent movies in America have been "The Tuxedo" and "The Medalion. In both movies Jackie performed amazing stunts and America was stunned when they found out he did them himself. Jackie also raised money to give coats to the elderly and homeless.

Jackie Chan is a hero to others near and far because he brought warmth to the elderly and homeless. Jackie also entertained people around the world with his dangerous daredevil stunts. Jackie gave the less fortunate warmth and hope that they could succeed. Jackie had a large impact on America, how movies are made, and the elderly and homeless.

Jackie Chan is a great man and a great actor. He showed America just how far he would go to be successful. He saved many lives from the cold. And he entertained people around the world. So the next time someone asks you who a hero is don't think about superman or other fictional characters, think of Jackie Chan.
