Jay Chou

Hi all! I want to tell you about Jay Chou. I think some of you have known him, because he is very famous, isn’t he? But for me, he is a special person, because he is my hero.

Jay Chou was born on 18th January 1979. His height is about 173 cm. He likes music very much. He can play musical instruments such as piano, viola, guitar, cello, and jazz drum. His hobbies are movies, basketball, and writing songs / lyrics which is one of his strengths as a singer. His favorite musicians are Chopin, Liszt, and Yo-Yo Ma. R&B, Soul, and Hip-Hop are his favorite music.

At the age of three, Jay Chou started learning to play the piano. He recalls his mother being very strict, to make sure he practiced sufficiently. Later, he learned to play the cello. Today, both are two instruments that he plays with superior dexterity. Besides that, he can play viola, guitar, and jazz drum. With all the musical talent, it isn't surprising that Jay started out as a songwriter? Since the age of sixteen, he has been writing songs for many of the most popular singers, such as Coco Lee, Jacky Wu, Valen Hsu, Power Station, etc.

His first album “Jay” was released in 2000 with the main style being R & B / rap. This album became an immediate hit. He has his own style and has remained that until now, with his new album, November’s Chopin which is released in 2005. During his work, he has released eight albums. Six albums are his solo albums which are released every year, another is sung by him and other singers, and the other is for his debut in Japan. Almost all of the albums are created by him - songwriting, producing, harmonizing, etc.

Now I will tell you the reason why I chose Jay Chou as my idol and also my hero. I personally think that Jay Chou is very impressive. IAt such a young age, with his soft and smooth voice, he has started and chosen his own life in the world of music. He knows his musical talent and always tries to develop his talent.

I have played musical instruments, too, since I was a little kid. I think it is hard for me to keep playing and to train myself for years with the same instrument. Sometimes I get bored and want to quit. But, if I listen to Jay Chou’s songs and music, or just remember him, I think that I won't quit and let it go. He has truly inspired me in that I want to be like him, never give up in studying and try my best in music.
