David Beckham, captain of the England international team and considered one of the most inspirational soccer players ever, had to start from somewhere. Where would that be? A small town called Leytonstone is where his legacy began. David Beckham is widely known for his skill on a soccer field, but what some people don't recognize is what he does when he isn't playing soccer. The influence he has on others is always positive, because he uses his fame and money for the good of others. David Beckham was born in 1975 in Leytonstone, England. Ever since he first touched the soccer ball, his father said he fell in love with the sport. He practiced every day, either with his dad or his friends at his local parks in his neighborhood. This paid off when he started his career at Manchester United at young age of 16. This was the beginning of his career as he went on to guide them and other teams to many titles. A hero must possess determination and achieve accomplishments. Determination is a firmness of purpose and accomplishments are what has been achieved successfully. The reason why David Beckham is a hero is because he is living his life driven with determination. The other reason is because he achieved lots of accomplishments on and off the field.
David Beckham achieved goals that most people would never have dreamt of, getting to help children and winning some of the biggest competitions in the world. He was not satisfied with his accomplishments on the field so he used that recognition to bring important causes to the forefront of people's awareness. He supported 19 charities and is the founder of some like Victoria and David Beckham Charitable Trust and Malaria No More. One of his accomplishments is his ability to give back to the world, especially to children. He wants all kids to have the same chances that he had to succeed in life. "With the launch of 7: The David Beckham Unicef Fund, David committed to using his powerful global voice, influence and connections to raise vital funds and encourage world leaders to create lasting positive change for children."(United Kingdom Committee for UNICEF) By using his fame, David plays a crucial role in the organization, Unicef. He made his own Unicef fund called 7, which raises funds for children less fortunate in countries such as South Africa and Cambodia. He uses his influence for the greater good of everyone. Just because he already has everything did not mean he could not give back either. He is committed to being connected with different cultures and communities, trying to help make their lives better. He also has numerous achievements for the professional soccer clubs he played on and for his country also. He led both of them to many different championships during his time playing. "On the field, Beckham didn't miss a beat. In 1999, he led Manchester United to the Premier League title, the FA Cup championship, and the Champions League title. Thanks to a last-minute free kick against Greece in 2001, England qualified for the 2002 World Cup."(Biography.com Editors) David Beckham led his team to multiple trophies with the time that he spent with them. He had 152 assists and 85 goals in his time on United to win the treble (winning three trophies in a single year). The treble had not been completed by any English team before that. Beckham also was a dominant player on his national team. Without him, they would not have gotten into the 2002 World Cup. David Beckham has been successful because he got to play for major clubs in leagues around the world and led them to their greatest feats. He has been successful in his charity work with Unicef also by changing people's lives around the globe.

David Beckham has seen much success because he earned it through determination. At an early age, he knew his love was soccer so he went to camps and practiced relentlessly on his time to improve. His focus paid off because it afforded him many opportunities to start learning how to play like a professional. "When he was ten, Beckham began attending the Bobby Charlton Soccer School each summer. The school ran a well-known skills competition, which Beckham won his second year there. The prize for winning the competition was a training camp trip to Barcelona, Spain. Although he was the youngest player to train at the Barcelona camp and the other players didn't speak English, he found that "if we were playing, we could make ourselves understood. It was the first time I'd been in a professional set-up, training with professional players. It opened my eyes.""(Killcoyne) Beckham went to additional camps on his free time which rewarded him by opening his eyes more to soccer. He also got to see how the professionals actually play and the environment they are put in. His determination is shown when he proves to his childhood favorite team that he has the ability to play at their top-tier level. "His talent soon caught the notice of Manchester United team officials, who asked him to try out for the club's youth league. By the age of 16, Beckham had left home and was playing for United's training division. Two years later he made the club, and by 1995, he was a full-time starter." (Biography.com Editors) At only 16, he was asked to play for the youth team of not only his favorite team, but for one of the biggest clubs in the world. Even when he was on the youth team he tried his best and got better and better until he got moved up to the actual team after two years. Determination led David Beckham to achieve lots in life.
David Beckham has shown why he is a hero through his never ending determination and accomplishments. He showed his determination when he earned his way up to the Premier League by practicing and perfecting his craft. His achievements are evidence that he can change people's lives for the better. David inspires the public with his willingness to help children in need. Besides just being influential on the soccer field, he made an impact off the field as well. With his model physique, fame from soccer, and his famous wife, he has become the face of several different companies including Adidas, H&M, and Belstaff. He is a powerhouse in not only marketing, but in philanthropy, and in soccer. He showed that if you have a strong passion for something you love, you should take and use every opportunity. People do not always have to follow the path of others, they can take risks and sometimes they are the right choices. All in all, David Beckham is a hero for a diverse amount of reasons but the main reasons are his determination and his accomplishments. He is an inspiration to a mass of soccer fans and people that don't even follow soccer look up to him for his charisma and his positive impact on others, everywhere.
