Debbie L. Davis

by Levi from Costa Mesa

Truly Amazing

There isn’t a person who doesn’t know about Debbie Davis in the Newport School District, or throughout the community. Mrs. Davis is a 39 year administrator that has dedicated her life, and career to helping students in every aspect to graduate High School. Therefore making the students something in life, rather than being another negative statistic in the community. Mrs. Davis retired from Bothell School District after 33 years of being a teacher, and an administrator. She then moved to Southern California to Huntington Beach from Washington State. Where she received another administrator position in the Newport-Mesa School District. There, she is the heart, soul, and principal at Back Bay High in Costa Mesa, California.

Mrs. Davis came to Back Bay when the school was in its worst state it possibly could be in. When Davis came to Back Bay, students were skipping class, ditching school in general, tagging the walls, coming to school high on drugs, and even smoking pot on campus. Although Davis was handed a difficult task she stayed positive and continued to give the school, and foremost the students the time, concern, dedication, and the energy to mold Back Bay into a positive, friendly, safe, acceptable environment for school in Newport-Mesa Unified School District.

Back Bay High School has grown into a family of staff, students, and friends. That has turned a negative state into a positive sophisticated environment that has been acknowledged throughout the greater community of Newport, and Costa Mesa. Students from all over Huntington Beach, Costa Mesa, and Newport are eager to come to Back Bay High because of the great opportunities to be successful in life from one of the most-favored schools in the greater Community. Students want to be a part of the family we have at Back Bay! Who wouldn’t? With someone like Debbie Davis as their principal, but foremost their friend, you’d be crazy if you didn’t jump on board with the Back Bay Family.

The students success rate has improved significantly at Back Bay, the drop out rate has decreased dramatically, the test scores have increased a great deal, and last but not least students ENJOY coming to school, graduating, and being successful. Over the last six years the staff, students, and the community greatly appreciate Davis’s time, dedication, and energy she has put the school but also helping shape the community. Everyday Davis’s main objective is to help students become well rounded educated individuals, and making their dreams a reality through school.
